The Senate has refused accepting the Committee report over Benue killings which was presented by the Chairman, Joint Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and Intelligence, Senator Abu Ibrahim on Wednesday.
The Chamber became dissapointed when Senator Abu Ibrahim in his report explained that armed Tiv youths attacked Fulani herdsmen, which led to the wanton destruction of lives and properties in Logo and Guma local government areas in Benue state where scores of people died.
The report also showed that the governor of Benue state, Mr. Samuel Ortom was also not interviewed by the Committee when they paid visit to the state, thereby, making it a one-sided report.
Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki disallowed other interested Senators from commenting on the report.
He told the Abu Ibrahim led Committee to do a thorough report and revert in the next one week.
“I will not allow anyone to comment on this report until the right thing is done and reported back to us in one week time”, Saraki said.
The Committee was set up following a point of order raised by Senator Joshua Lidani representing Gombe South Senatorial district on 16th January, 2018 over attacks in Benue and Taraba states.

Curiously, the Senator representing Benue North Senatorial district, George Akume stressed that the report was incomplete.
He said: “the Committee ought to have heard from all the parties to the conflict including the governor of Benue State.
